Good supervision is one of the most important ingredients in becoming an effective therapist. It is something I have always valued, both as a supervisee and as a supervisor. I am fortunate in having had excellent supervision throughout my career with leaders in the field. I have been a clinical supervisor for seven years, offering both group and individual supervision for clinical social workers, family therapists and medical doctors. My doctoral dissertation focused on the power and effectiveness of family therapy supervision. Supervision is an essential part of a clinician’s ongoing practice.
